Chevrolet Captiva Turbodiesel

Chevrolet Captiva Turbodiesel

Posted in motor trader.com on May 29, 2012 at 12:00 am
Chevrolet Malaysia (Naza Quest Sdn Bhd) has added two new and more powerful turbodiesel variants of the Chevrolet Captiva SUV to its line-up.
The new variants, in LT and LTZ grades, are equipped with the latest 2-litre turbocharged diesel 4-cylinder engine with VCDI (Variable geometry turbo Commonrail Direct Injection) that produces 360 Nm from as low as 2750 rpm and 122 kW/163 ps at 3800rpm. Both come with 6-speed automatic transmission which features Driver Shift Control and an ECO mode, similar to the one found in the petrol-engined Captiva LT.
Both the petrol and turbodiesel LT Captivas are fitted with similar 18-inch alloy wheels while the Captiva LTZ has 19-inch wheels, which Chevrolet Malaysia says are the largest in its class.
Other features such as the leather upholstered interior, electrically-operated parking brake; 3D sound staging system and multi-function 4-spoke steering wheel from the Captiva LT petrol are also present on the turbodiesel models. The LTZ also comes with an electrochromic mirror which reduces glare from headlights from cars behind. The cabin upholstery is also of perforated leather which offers better ventilation and doesn’t get hot.
Safety features from the petrol LT are also present on the turbodiesel Captivas. These include Active and Passive safety systems like dual front airbags, curtain airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels (ventilated at the front) with ABS + EBD, traction control, stability control (ESP) with roll-over protection and self-levelling suspension system.
Premium features such as the ‘Hill Start Assist’ that prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards when the brakes are released on a slope and ‘Hill Descent Control’ which helps the Captiva maintain a constant speed when descending steep slopes to maximize traction and control are standard on all LT and LTZ variants.
“The Captiva is already a versatile and luxurious offering with performance and advanced technologies in one. With the addition of the more powerful and frugal turbodiesel powertrains, it definitely raises the bar once again for SUVs in its class,” said Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, NAZA Group of Companies Joint Group Executive Chairman.
Retail prices (without insurance) as provided by Chevrolet Malaysia:
2.0L Turbo-Diesel VCDi AWD LT – RM165,888

Full EPF withdrawal at 60

By P. ARUNA
aruna@thestar.com.my

PETALING JAYA: The age for full withdrawal from the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) by contributors will be raised to 60 years and partial withdrawal to 55.
The planned amendment to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Act 1991 follows the passing of the Minimum Retirement Age Bill 2012 in Parliament last month which extends the minimum retirement age for private sector employees from 55 to 60.
“It is a consequential move. Once we raise the minimum retirement age, we have to raise the age of EPF withdrawal as well,” said Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai.
He said the decision had been made and it was only a matter of time before the amendment would come into effect.
Currently, contributors can make partial EPF withdrawal at 50 and full withdrawal of their savings upon retirement at 55.
However, Lim said they were looking at providing a transition period for contributors who have already planned to withdraw their contributions within the next few years.
“We have not finalised the transition period, but it will be between three and five years,” he said adding that during this period, contributors who reached the age of 55 could still make full withdrawals.
EPF contributors had expressed concern about whether the age for full EPF withdrawal would be raised.
Many wanted the option of withdrawing their savings at 55 even if the retirement age was raised to 60, saying that they required their savings for pressing needs such as their children's education and elderly parents' medication while some felt that they deserved the flexibility of choosing when they could withdraw their savings.
MTUC secretary-general Abdul Halim Mansor said they were in the dark about the planned amendment.
“We have not been involved in any discussion regarding raising the age of EPF withdrawal or any other amendment to the Act,” he said.
However, he agreed with the proposal, saying EPF contributions were meant to be used after retirement.
“Our intention is for workers to have sufficient funds after retiring.”
He said the Government should however consider allowing contributors flexibility to withdraw their savings at 55 for specific reasons.
Fomca chief executive officer Datuk Paul Selvaraj agreed, saying workers should not withdraw their savings until retirement.
“However, if they decide to retire earlier, they should be given the option to withdraw their savings before 60,” he said.

Video float screen on Galaxy Note ICS 4.0.4

I noticed that last week samsung sent an update but i don't know that they updated my galaxy note to 4.0.4, not until just now (i upgraded it to 4.0.3 before). There is a new feature that allow you to watch the video while you are doing something else on your phone. I.e, you can minimize the video screen and it will float on top (it can be dragged around too!!!!). I came to knew about this new feature from malaya android facebook page, thanks to them. It is the same feature equipped by samsung on their latest android smartphone, the galaxy s3.

How To Enter the Recovery Mode For Samsung Galaxy S Plus (I9001)

Recovery mode is used to install system updates in form of update.zip files (such as the one for rooting your phone), performing a factory reset and wiping the cache.

To enter recovery mode, turn off the phone, connect the USB cable, and then hold down Volume Up + Power.
If done properly, the phone will show the SAMSUNG and Galaxy S Plus screens and then end up at the "Android out of the box screen".

"Android out of the box" icon indicating successfully booted recovery mode"

Now press Menu to enter recovery mode.
The options for actually performing recovery when something is wrong with your phone are very limited with the stock recovery that comes preinstalled on your phone. However, you have the option to replace it with a much better, fully-featured recovery called "ClockworkMod Recovery" (CWM).

Getting into recovery mode can be a bit fiddly and you might need several tries. Connecting the USB cable makes it a lot easier. CWM recovery does not have this problem and boots reliably. If you are still having problems getting into recovery mode, download Easy Reboot Recovery.zip, unpack and run RebootRecovery.bat while your phone is connected with the USB cable. The phone will reboot into recovery mode.

Navigation in recovery mode is done using the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to scroll up and down in lists and the Home button for choosing an item. Sometimes a simple push of the Home button is interpreted as two pushes so be careful.(From my experience long press or hold the Home button, simultaneously using the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to scroll up and down in lists, once you have selected the desire option well normally, factory reset. let go the Home button.) Found this out while upgrading my wife's S Plus from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6

Recovery mode is a separate partition on your device that holds its own minimal Android system with a kernel and a small set of tools.

Galaxy note keep on rebooting

Just like to share my experience with fellow android users. Tonight suddenly my samsung galaxy note keep on re booting, just after media scanning is finished.
Frustrated i browse thru the internet for the remedy of the problem. I found one solution look very promising, (http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=25563).
In here the android user (credit to him/her), has encountered the same problem as i am and i'm sure so as many more android user. He/she has gone to some extent to get a new sd card, lucky for me i learnt from others mistake.

The root of the problem is that when you moved more that 50 apps to the sd card, using what ever app2sd card that available out there.

My version of this problem solution:
  1. switch of the phone.
  2. remove your sd card
  3. on the phone, using app named appinstaller v1.0.4 by fun trigger, i managed to uninstall the unwanted apps, reducing it to below 50 apps in the sd card. The appinstaller v1.0.4 can uninstall the apps even if we moved the apps to sd and the sd card removed from the phone.
  4. After reducing the app installed on sd to below 50.
  5. Switch off the phone again.
  6. insert the sd card
  7. I restarted the phone........ NO MORE REBOOTING. The phone works as normal.
Remember what works for me might not work for you..........if after the above steps your phone still rebooting, try consider swapping with another sd card....anyway good luck.

Ketawa

Kenapa dilarang ketawa berdekah-dekah?
................................................................................................................................................
Daripada Sayidatina Aisyah, katanya: "Tidak pernah walaupun sekali aku melihat Rasulullah s.a.w. berlebihan ketawa hingga ku lihat anak lidahnya. Tawa beliau hanyalah berupa senyuman." (Riwayat Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Daud, Al-Baghawy dan Ahmad).......
................................................................................................................................................

Wallahualam
